Medical device company, Lenexa Medical and global digital business DB Results have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further collaborate on opportunities for the implementation of Aged Care solutions which they say can be rapidly developed and delivered.

Lenexa Medical and DB Results say they aim to create significant efficiencies in the provision of Aged Care services through “innovation and leading-edge technologies, as well as via approaches to drive digital solutions”.

The companies say the MOU was signed so as to further strengthen an existing partnership announced in 2019, following the ongoing development of a pressure injury (PI) prevention solution.

“The partnership brings together DB Results’ global industry and digital business expertise with Lenexa Medical’s innovative solution, that will deliver targeted wound care information to aid in the prevention of pressure injuries.

Lenexa Medical and DB Results say the Pressure Injury Management System is a “world first medical device” currently undergoing trials at one of the largest regional hospitals in Victoria.

“The device, which is being developed in Australia, assists clinicians in positioning patients as well as providing real time monitoring for PI risk. PIs are mostly preventable, however, in Australia alone, there are over 300,000 cases each year. PIs remain a devastating complication for patients in hospital and aged care settings, particularly where a person is immobile for a prolonged period,” Lenexa Medical and DB Results note.

DB Results CEO Gavin Bunshaw says hebelieves innovative technology in healthcare can’t come soon enough, particularly now as healthcare facilities are further burdened with the worldwide COVID pandemic.

“Digital solutions can and will play an instrumental role throughout the pandemic. We need the best innovations and engineers working around the clock to deliver solutions that will benefit not only patients but importantly healthcare workers. Lenexa Medical is already on track with trials underway for its PI solution.”

“Our solution aims to be the first of its kind to help facilitate personalised, precision-based PI prevention,” said Lenexa Medical’s CEO, Ajit Ravindran, who says he is passionate about affordable quality care for patients and reducing the costs to families and the healthcare system.

“We are excited to further strengthen our partnership with DB Results and help deliver real solutions for healthcare and the aged care sector.”
